An Intimate Evening with James Mullinger
Thursday, August 22nd, 7pm

The Summerville Art Festival is thrilled to welcome James Mullinger for his very first Summerville appearance. James is an award-winning British comedian and the co-founder of [Edit] Magazine. He spent fifteen years at GQ before moving to Canada. He has appeared on CBC’s The Debaters, at theatres throughout Canada, and in stand-up specials and movies. In 2022 he released his memoir Brit Happens – Living The Canadian Dream, published by Goose Lane. In this exclusive live event, James will share stories from his life in London at the forefront of the magazine publishing industry, how he got into stand up comedy, insights into the writing of his first book and exclusive revelations about his second. James will also discuss how he fell in love with the province of New Brunswick and why he decided to move his family here in 2014 and launch The Maritime Edit magazine with his wife Pamela who grew up on the Kingston Peninsula.

Join us for an honest and inspirational discussion with James about his debut book,
Brit Happens. James will share his inspirations and the challenges of writing a memoir, recount humorous and motivational stories from the book, and offer advice to aspiring authors. He will also take questions from the audience and sign books. There will be copies of Brit Happens available for purchase.

The Summerville United Church is sure to be filled to capacity for this funny and deeply personal account of his life. Don't miss your opportunity to hear James Mullinger share his experiences and insights, so please book today!

Honey, I Shrunk Us!
Saturday, August 24th, 11:30pm - 5:00pm

Step into a world of illusion at the Summerville Art Festival! Explore the captivating "Honey, I Shrunk Us!" exhibit, designed by Erin Kerwin and James Eger, implemented by Ian Simpson. This is where you, your friends, or even your parents can experience a mind-bending transformation. You can pose on and beside the size distortion chair, capturing the magic with your cell phone as you take a photo from the precise viewing point. It's a fun experience that will give you the perfect Instagram photo!

The size distortion chair is a playful creation that allows you to experiment with perspective and illusion techniques. It ingeniously combines normal-sized chair legs positioned near a specific viewing point with an oversized chair seat situated further away. When viewed from the designated standpoint, these elements seamlessly merge, forming a cohesive chair that defies logic.

Capacity: Unrestricted
Cost: Free
Location: Festival site - 1873 Route 845
